How To Make Your Own Industrial Cleaners:
60
Ever Wonder How The Big Boys Do it?
Have you ever wanted to make your own industrial cleaner such as Simple Green, Dawn,Surf Laundry Detergent, hair conditioners but didn't know how? Were you ever interested in what makes a car wash detergent? Maybe you would like to be able to make your own high quality laundry detergent like what you see in the grocery store or perhaps a super concentrate line of products like Chemtron's Proteus.
I will admit that Proctor and Gamble products are hard to make such as Tide. They have their formulas on their website because they know not just anyone can do it. Their laundry detergents contain a lot of enzymes that attack certain stains. These enzymes are hard to get and very expensive. Someone like Proctor and Gamble probably has a 3 story tall holding tank of Enzymes. Their buying power is immense so they can really get the price down. However, your lower quality liquid laundry detergent is not hard to make.
This will be an excellent research project for a student in school or for someone that just wants to know how to do it. I will show you where to get the information for making the following:
All Purpose Cleaners, Bathroom Cleaners, Carpet Cleaners Cleansers, (liquid soap, facial and bath products) Creams & Lotions, Dish Detergents, Emulsion Polymer, Ethnic Market Products Fabric Softeners, Floor Cleaners, Glass Cleaners, Hair Care, Hair Conditioners, Hard Surface Care, Laundry Detergents, Shampoos/Conditioning Shampoos, Suncare Products, Vehicle Care/Detailing. Dishwashing liquid is the easiest to make.
Go Here: Stepan.com Click on login and register. You will put in your information and the company you work for or maybe even set up your own company. Once you are registered all you have to do is go to products and click on formulations. You will see a ton of formulations for each category I listed above. Then click on contact. Once here you will be able to have access to Techservices. They will answer any indepth questions you have and may even send you a samp;e to play with
You wil follow the same procedure for Pilot.com. These guys make a ton of pot and pan and foamer raw materials. I request the Calblend Eco 40 D all the time. This is a green friendly detergent that is already made and all you do is add salt; It thickens to a gel and you have yourself a beutiful pot and pan detergent and or car wash. If you add to much salt it falls out of solution so experiment slowly. I suspect Green Works gets their raw materials from Piolt because Pilot products are green friendly and they have a whole DFE line of green raw material
Formularies: These tell you how to make the detergent. They tell you the whole process and what raw materials to use. Inside the formulary is the MSDS Sheet. This will tell you the trade name and chemical name of the raw material. Now that you know this you will be able look at the label on a detergent and know exactly whats in it.
So that is it. Raw material providers have a huge research and developmant staff that put these formulas together for compounders (soapmakers). They do this because it is a way to promote their industrial cleaning raw materials to compounders.
This information is for your personal knowledge. Do not try to apply the knowledge unless you have the experience necessary to do so.
