Jeremy Lin Knicks: Star In the Making
As I was at the gym the past few days I noticed a consistency on the televisions in front of me. For the past few days I noticed there had been the same face on the screen during the ESPN show. It was the face of a NBA Player named Jeremy Lin. I normally don't follow basketball but I had never seen as much excitement over an Asian American ball Player since Yao Ming.
Jeremy Lin is not very big for an NBA player. He is 6'3 and 200 lbs and 23 years old. part of his amazement is the fact that he is a Harvard grad (an Ivy league school) who was not drafted out of college. Luckily Harvard changed their mind about Lin because at first they were not interested in him. He himself admits that he isn't going to do anything incredibly athletic but that he is knowledgeable and knows how to play the game. He is smart and keeps his composure on the floor. The road to sudden Jeremy Lin Knicks fame started when he was invited to play at the NBA summer league games in Vegas. He performed well and was offered a spot on several teams but decided on the Golden State Warriors and signed a 2 year deal and Nike started selling the Jeremy Lin Jersey already. That Phil Knight must be psychic or is a damn good visionary!
ESPN reporting has been singing the praises of this young man because of his triple double showing on February 4, 2012, when he scored 25 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, in a 99-92 Knicks victory over the Nets. Then February 10, 2012,had another nice night when he scored 38 points and had seven assists, leading the Knicks in their defeating the Los Angeles Lakers with a score of 92–85. This was all after Lin had been sent to the Erie BayHawks of the D-League. He performed well so he was called back to the Knicks. What is amazing is Jeremy has scored more points in his three career starts than any other player since the NBA merged with the ABA. His coaches call him smart and he has a players and has a point gaurds mentality. Already people are switching from Carmelo Anthony to Jeremy. Will the chants of Linsanity be a sustained trend or will it fade in time? Hopefully it will continue for this young guy who has proven what you can do when given a chance!

I don't think he be some big time superstar, but clearly isn't a flash in the pan. He has actual skill and he has made every player on the Knicks better around him. As a Laker fan I had to sit and watch in awe as he basically had his way with our defense the other night. The guys is the real deal.
Nice hub, I like all the news lately about jeremy, and its awesome to finally see some excitement coming from the likes of the NBA, I stopped watching way back when Jordan retired, maybe there might just be a reason to return back to watching it all for me after all.
Nicely well written hub voted up.
Nice Hub, I especially enjoy the clips. I think Lin has a great potential. If he keeps his mind cool, maintains his momentum and good, humble nature he may become a superstar that people talk about for years to come. Thanks for sharing.
Wow I even forgot I came here to this hub, cool stuff, and now that controversy surrounding the whole Linsanity issue, go figure right.
I love the game of basketball, but I really love playing it more than watching it, so I will have to get back to the B-Ball court soon, I still feel that I can make it to the NBA myself, and I'm actually 37 today.
Maybe someday we can both get to meet Jeremy Lin, and have a chat with him about the fact that we've became his dedicated fans, and enjoy writing online articles about his awesome success, and whatever the crooked media spurs out about him as well, you never know. @Axaflaxar
Jeremy Lin has all the skills to be a starting point guard in the NBA, but I don't think he is going to be able to keep putting up the big numbers of over 20 points and 7 assists per game.

Not sure, it's still early days and even stars can get found out by the opposition once they know how to handle him. But I must say I thought he played a great game against the Lakers yesterday...he was on fire and the only reason that the Knicks held on to win.
