Hyperhydrosis: Is Excessive Sweating A Problem For You?

What Causes Excessive Sweating?
Hyperhidrosis or Excessive Sweating is a condition where a person sweats abnormally; more so than what is needed to cool the body This can be embarassing as you sweat on the hands, feet armpits and groin (imagine the problems here!). It can happen where there is a high concentration of sweat glands and these areas contain them. I always thought it was from a person being overweight. What led me to believe this was an individual that lived with me for a while. He was overweight and sweated all the time. He had to leave his windows open in the winter time and always wore shorts and a t-shirt. However, I found out that his being overweight may not have anything to do with his excessive sweating. I told him there were ways to deal with sweating like this. I don't know if he did or not as we lost touch when he moved out
This can be an embarrasing problem. If your hands are always sweating you can't grip things securely. You may have to change shirts all the time. So if you have a job where you are in front of people you are always going to be worried about sweating and feeling self concious. This can be psychologically taxing for anyone.
Causes For Excessive Sweating:
It is really not known what causes excessive sweating however surgeons do suspect it comes from a few causes. As I read these causes I noticed them in my friend who was in his late 40's, overweight as I stated, had high blood pressure and poor diet by the way.
Nervousness and Excitement: He always was on the go and seem fidgety. He sweated more because he was just nervous
Foods: I don't know exactly what he ate when I wasn't around be he always had a ton of Lean Cuisines and it was obvious it was of no help to him.
Caffeine: He drank coffe non-stop! However, it was a 16 oz cup with half coffee the rest half-and half and 5-6 sweet and lows.
Anxiety: There are tons of other medical reasons for excessive sweating which my friend may have had and did not want to discuss with me. There are all listed here on Wikipedia: a few are brain lesion, congestive heart failure, Parkinsons Disease.
Cures For Excessive Sweating and Ways to Stop Excessive Sweating:
Luckily there are ways to manage this problem.
Aluminum Chloride may help: This is contained in deodorant. However, a person with excessive sweating issues will need a deodorant that contains higher levels of Aluminum Chloriude. you may see reults in a few days.
Injections: This method will last for 4-9 months and is approved by the FDA. Your doctor will inject botulinum toxin type A into the gland to disable them.
Prescription Drugs: Oxybutynin and Glycopyrrolate These reduce hyperhidrosis but have side affects such as drowsiness, cotton mouth, and visual problems.
Surgery: Personally I would be afraid to have my sweat glands removed. I would rather have them and not need them instead of need them and not have them. Kinda like condoms. Then again I don't suffer from this problem so my thoughts on the matter may be skewed.
miraDry, is the trademark name of a non-invasive microwave treatment that blasts the glands
More Natural Cures:
Hypnosis has had some success.
Absorbent foot soles for excessive feet sweating.
Meditation and Relaxation: For the anxious and nervous.
So there are ways to deal with this embarrasing problem. Chances are you aren't alone in dealing with it. All you have to do is just find the right solution that works for you and your lifestyle. Don't let this disorder change your lifestyle you change it!
Remember to see your doctor if this affects your daily routine, you sweat more than usual, and have night sweats
